The Rector of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati, Professor Puiu-Lucian GEORGESCU, Ph.D., and the Vice-rector for University strategies and partnership with students, Associate professor Ciprian VLAD, Ph.D., were on February 18 at a work meeting with the representatives of Yazaki Romania, the subsidiary in Braila of the Japanese concern. The university’s management discussed with the representatives of the company aspects concerning the company’s need for specialized staff and hiring the university’s graduates, plus developing study programs adapted to the profile of the Japanese company.
February 19 is considered officially national holiday. In 1876, on this day, in Hobita, the Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi was born who, alongside Mihai Eminescu, Nicolae Grigorescu and George Enescu had an important contribution to the development of modern and contemporary culture and to the recognition of Romanian spirituality abroad. Students and professor from the Faculty of Arts of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati have participated in debates and artistic activities, thus marking this fundamental moment in Romanian culture.
Professor Puiu-Lucian GEORGESCU, Ph.D., the Rector of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati visited the Republic of Moldova, between 10 and 11 of February, where he was accompanied by a delegation formed by Associate professor Gina Aurora NECULA, Ph.D., the Dean of the Cross-Border Faculty, Associate professor Mariana Carmelia Bălănică-Dragomir, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Applied Sciences within the Cross-Border Faculty and Mr. Ionel Constantin MITEA, university assistant within the same faculty.
In addition to the top’s impact on career, which we referred to in a previous presentation, researchers at Standford University have published another ranking of the most influential scientists in the world, in various fields. In this case, data is presented and analyzed regarding the impact of research in 2019. In this top you can also find doctor Alin Laurențiu Tatu, from Galati, teacher at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, which is listed with no less than 150 articles in extenso.
The ranking is done by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the largest public research forum in Spain, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC). It is done on three criteria – online impact/visibility (online connections of other universities to the online presence of the analysed university), citations in the GoogleScholar system, number of articles included in the top 10% of the most cited articles, in 26 fields of science, in the reference index.
"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati in collaboration with The Institute of Cyber Policy Studies - CyBureau of Israel and the College of Economics and Computer Science from Poland organize on 28 - 29 January an international conference with the subject: "Coronavirus and the cyberspace: a year of changes and challenges". More than 30 specialists from European countries, but also from the United States of America, have already announced their participation in the event.
The training program for EU / COSME students Vulcanus in Japan was launched on 10 January and will start in September and end in August next year. As part of the program, students will participate in a seminar about Japan, followed by an intensive Japanese course both free, and then an internship in a Japanese company.
This programme is financed by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation and the Japanese host company. The EU / COSME students are awarded a grant (Yen 1.900.000) to cover the cost of travel to and from Japan and living expenses in Japan. There is no charge for the language course and seminar, and accommodation is provided free of charge during the course and seminar and the company traineeship.
Starting with October 16, 2020, “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati was co-opted into Eurasian Universities Union, an international university organization comprising of 120 public or private universities and institutions from over 50 countries in Europe and Asia. The main objective of joining this association is to share the knowledge and experiences with other higher education institutions to achieve the highest quality.
International Conference “Environmental Challenges in the Black Sea Basin: Impact on Human Health” - MONITOX (BSB27) Project
The International Conference "Environmental Challenges in the Black Sea Basin: Impact on Human Health" will be organized in the period September 23rd-26th 2020 in Galati, Romania, by “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati (INPOLDE research center, ReFORM-UDJG Multidisciplinary Platform) in partnership with Institute of Zoology, Republic of Moldova; International Hellenic University, Greece; Institute of Geology and Seismology, Republic of Moldova & Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development, Romania, in the frame of the project with code BSB27 "Black Sea Basin interdisciplinary cooperation network for sustainable joint monitoring of environmental toxicants migration, improved evaluation of ecological state and human health impact of harmful substances, and public exposure prevention" (acronym "MONITOX") financed through Joint Operational Programme Black Sea Basin 2014-2020.
