Francophonie University Association launches an international call for projects with the purpose of fighting against COVID-19. The purpose of this call is to support initiatives by students, student engineers and young researchers linked to the pandemic.
 
Any initiative with a technological, economic and / or social impact that can be assessed in the very short term is eligible. It can be a support or support device, such as a manufactured product. An exceptional fund of 500,000 euros is dedicated to this call. Projects of less than 10,000 euros up to 50,000 euros can be funded.
 



March 20th, 2020, is the day when the academic community of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati celebrates 72 years of existence, when the Faculty of Land Improvements was established - the first step towards building this powerful center for creating and promoting science, technology and culture that brings together today, 14 faculties with profiles covering a wide variety of fields.

By the University Charter, this holiday is also one of the entire community of Galati, not only because it honors the existence of the largest higher education institution in the South-East of Romania, which research performance is well known, but also through the happy coincidence by the birth, 200 years ago, of prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza.



A team of five specialists from the Faculty of Food Science and Engineering, the Faculty of Science and Environment and the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy have designed an alcohol-based disinfectant for individual use. This disinfectant could be a backup if the existing stock on the market runs out.


MSc students and graduates with different educational backgrounds as well as Ph.D. students and post-docs from 28 RIS countries will discover job opportunities in the food industry, by getting unique, professional, paid 3-6 months internships.

In the context of the current epidemiological situation and of Decision no. 6 of 6.03.2020 no. 8 of March 9, 2020, of the Technical-Scientific Support Group on the management of highly contagious diseases in Romania, as well as the letter from the Ministry of Education and Research no. 158 / GP / 09.03.2020, “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati decided to adjourn  the teaching activity for all the university extensions outside the country’s territory until March 29.


According to the Decision no. 6 of 6.03.2020 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - the Department for Emergency Situations, through which at point 3 the practice for the university’s Medicine and Pharmacy students is prohibited until 31.03.2020, we announce that the teaching activity will continue outside


Due to the cases of Coronavirus infections at national and local level, the official statements issued by the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the National Committee for Special Emergency Situations and the Public Health Directorate of Galaţi County, the management of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati recommends, during this period, special preventive measures, in order to avoid cases of illness at institutional level.

The Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA) is currently organizing the third edition of its student contest on the theme of "solidarity in the EU", open to high-school, undergraduate, and graduate students.

Interested students should submit a short policy brief reflecting on the theme of solidarity in the EU. The best papers will be published by TEPSA and three winning authors will be invited to participate free of charge in one of TEPSA's EU@Work seminars scheduled to take place in Brussels in June (EU@Work Seminar for MA students and graduates)and July 2020 (EU@Work Seminar for undergraduate students), with travel and accommodation costs covered.
